Response to Literature
I read a really good horror/fantasy book called Cirque Du Freak (The Lake Of Souls) by Darren Shan. The book is about a half vampire prince who goes on a mission with his friend to find his former identity. They are going through a lot of different places (The Future) to get to a lake called the lake of souls. One of the themes might be that if you let the urge for revenge eat you up then you lose the chance to move forward.
In the Lake Of Souls there is a fisherman who travels with Darren and Harkat that brings the net to fish Harkats soul out. The fisher said he went so he could help but he really went for revenge. When they got there the fisher wanted to fish out the souls of his old shipmates so he could eat them because they tossed him overboard. At the end he falls into the lake and becomes trapped. That shows that revenge can come back and bite you in the butt.
The theme in this book has made me think that if someone does something that I want revenge for don’t go searching to get revenge because it can turn right back around. I have seen a lot of instances were the theme is true on T.V. and is not true on T.V. This book shows that you should not seek revenge.
I think that the theme is believable and the characters and the setting are to. This is shown because the fisher was seeking revenge and at the end he gets trapped for eternity. The Characters are believable because it is a book about a half vampire prince.
